    Hi
I understand that EBT is (or soon) not in spain anymore...
so hope us mere mortals can help you out.
me being picky...noone makes a 1.9m dish,....the official spec sheets say that they are 1.8...but even then the actual reflector is 1.79, but with the ri,m it is about 1.85,...but some installers say 1.9 as it sounds bigger than a 1.8 and makes you think you are getting more for your money.

first question: have your tried the connection without going into your ONDA and loop thru? this will also ensure the amstrad is working OK.

second question: do you turn off your ONDA and you are using your Amstrad: if you do not then your sky box will only be able to use the same frequency that the ONDA is looking at..ie if the ONDA is on Sky news (12207), then the sky box will only be able to use the same frequency (12207). therefore you must turn off your ONDA if you want to use the loop thu and use your amstrad

WARNING: having two receivers , both powered on, conencted to each other, to the LNB may also caused damage to receivers and LNB's.

if you already have all four outputs of your quad LNB used, you cannot connect a fifth receiver to the system....you will need a quatro LNB and a multiswitch system to increase the number of outputs.

    hope this helps....

Hi thanks for the very quick answer.I hav'nt tried connecting directly but will tomorrow. All four out puts on the LNB are in use, can you explain what a multiswitch is? I've read about splitters, is that the same? Thanks again,.....Sam

LNBs come with one, two (twin), or four (quad) output, so they can be used for one, two or four receivers.

if you want to connect more receivers then you will require a quattro LNB - this has HH, VH, HL, VL outputs (v vertical h horizontal h high l low) for the four "signal types of frequencies" - and feeds these to the multiswitch unit. multiswitch units allow for 8, 12 or 16 outputs. meaning you can connect multiple receivers and view different channels one each.

musliswicthes are used on community installations, where you need to feed multiple receivers from one dish.

a splitter splits one cables signal into two - not good for satellites - especially if one receiver wants to use a vertical frequency and the other wants to use a horizontal frequency!

The installer says no one gets bbc2 or ch4 in this area---have a feeling I am being fobbed off.
wish I had known about this site earlier..
          Many Thanks
          Jim
          Hi Jim,
That's part of the problem really, they seem to find it so easy to try to fob people off, when, with forums such as these, it's so easy to find out things.
Are you able to name and shame yet ?

i think the frequencies used would already be in the GI receiver, so just do a search for FTA channels...
if not you will have to add them to the frequency / transponder list then search...
cant be more specific as i cannot remember the GI menu system and dont have one lying around at the moment...i am good but not 100% perfect!!
            hi there
We have a 1.9m dish shared with my neighbour, 2 in my house and 2 in theres, since instalation (b4 xmas) they have not been in the property and arrived yesterday...their channals break up big time, and they dont get the 4´s? Its a golden interstar box, my pictures are perfect, I have the same GI box and a pace!!!, I took both of my boxes in to theres to test and they break up aswell, what can you sugest the problem is...we realise it sonds like cables but dont know what to do

it could be the cables...esecially if there are two peices of cables joined to gether...check the connections.
it could also be the output on the LNB - have you tried swapping the cables on the LNB?
or get the installers back top sort it out...all should be covered on their gaurentee (like LNB failure or cable conection issues) so you should not have to pay for anything.

depends what frequency you are scanning....
                  the free versions of c4,m4,e4 film4 are on two frequencies 10729 v 22 5/6 and 10714 H 22 5/6 - the latter available similar toimes to bbc2.

the c4 channels (apart from tton4) on 12480 all require a sky card to view...and will be the reason why they say scrambled ...in fact c4's need a FTV card and the e4 and m4 need a sky subscription card.

short circuit in the system, damage cable, damaged LNB, - some boxes recognise a short and shut down / stop working

knackered GI box, crap / cowboy installation - nuff said.

again, check the cable, check the connections,
yes a single output on a 4 output LNB can fail, as can 2 out of the 4 as can 3 out of the 4....

find another installer who may be able to help you out - try lee-digital.com or televisiontechnology.eu who operate in your area and have had good reps on forums

again call the installer and get them to check it out - and possibly mention to them that you may need a new 4 output LNB under gaurentee.
thanks, I cant get hold of the installers...where are you based? we are in Torrevieja
