Exhibition “The legacy of an Infanta’

“The legacy of an Infanta” is an exhibition that rescues the donation made in 1830 by María Francisca de Asís de Braganza y Borbón to the Virgin of Monserrate, patron saint of Orihuela.

The exhibition will be on display until November 16, 2025, at the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art of Orihuela.

The exhibition brings together unique pieces such as the mantle made by a court embroiderer and the apron embroidered in gold by the Infanta herself, premiered on September 8, 1830.

Curated by the historian Gemma Ruiz Ángel, the exhibition highlights the historical and devotional link between Orihuela and its patron saint through the artistic and religious legacy of the Infanta.

The exhibition is completed with related works, such as an image of the Virgin of Monserrate by José Sánchez Lozano and a rogation mantle of great heritage value.
