Habaneras Concert

The group “Masa Coral José Hódar” from Torrevieja will offer a concert of Habaneras in Rojales

The concert will take place at the Ciudad Quesada Cultural Center in Rojales, on April 5, 2025 at 7:30 p.m

The habanera is a musical genre developed from the Cuban contradanza. In Spain, the habanera took root especially in coastal areas such as Catalonia and the Valencian Community, becoming an integral piece of its musical heritage.

The group “Masa Coral José Hódar“, founded in Torrevieja in 1945, is made up of a large group of male and female voices, accompanied by an orchestra of bandurrias, lutes and guitars, and currently, they also have the incorporation of a Mexican guitarrón.

The choir has participated in numerous events and concerts, contributing significantly to the dissemination of habaneras and choral music in the region. Their repertoire includes a variety of habaneras and traditional songs of the sea.
