In less than an hour, up to 50 litres of rain per square metre fell.
Firefighters had to rescue up to 3 drivers whose cars were being swept away by the rain
Between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, October 11, up to 50 litres per square metre of rain were recorded in the downtown area of Torrevieja.
Areas such as Playa de los Locos and the Doña Ines urbanisation were completely flooded by the torrent of water that surprised many drivers who saw their car “floating” and being moved uncontrollably down the road, colliding with containers and other vehicles.
Firefighters had to intervene to drain water from inside several homes as well as to rescue several drivers trapped inside their cars.
