The British residents in Torrrevieja will celebrate “Poppy day”, which has been organised by the Royal British Legion.

This Friday, November 11th, at 11:00 a.m., the commemorative act of Rememberance Day (Poppy Day), organised by the Royal British Legion in collaboration with Torrevieja Council will be held in the Archpriest Parish of the Immaculate Conception, and it will be attended by the Mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, the Councillor for International Residents, Gitte Lund, and the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Tourism, Rosario Martínez.
This solemn and patriotic act, originally known as Armistice Day, which has been celebrated annually on the 11th day of the 11th month, at the 11th hour since 1919 in all the towns and cities of Great Britain, is being organised here once again for the large British population in and around Torrevieja, by the veterans of the Royal British Legion, chaired by Pam Wilding, in which, as in previous years, veterans of the British Navy and Air Force also participate
This year there will also be the presence of State Corps and Security authorities, as well as the Army.
The commemorative mass for this important event will be officiated by the pastor of the Anglican Church in Torrevieja, Father Richard Seabrook, who will later place a floral offering in the Plaza de la Constitución in memory of those who have died in wars and other military conflicts.
