
The Spanish Racewalking Championships take place in Torrevieja on Sunday, February 16.
The Spanish Championship will have five competitions of five different categories: 50km Absolute (men and women), 20km Master (men and women), 10km Sub20 and Sub18 (men and women) and 5km Sub16 (men and women).
The 50km Absolute competition is qualifying for the European championship to be held in Minsk (5 best competitors) and for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (3 best competitors).
The sporting event has been organized in cooperation with the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), the City Council of Torrevieja, through its Department of Sports, and the Athletics Club of Torrevieja.
The circuit is approved by the RFEA and the WA (World Athletics) and will run through the streets of Ramón Gallud, María Parodi and Paseo de la Libertad. Along the route there will be two screens to follow the live competition, which will be broadcast in streaming by the RFEA, as well as the possibility of a giant screen located in the Plaza de la Constitución.
Hometown athletes Luis Manuel Corchete and Mª Dolores Marco Valero will be present in the championship.

It has a great significance for Luis Corchete to have the Spanish championship in his hometown:
“It means a lot, competing at home is always special. The first and only time I did it was in 1999. It has been a long time since then and doing it again is a dream for me.”
Corchete sets out to compete with a great goal in this championship:
“My main goal is to qualify for the Biolorrusia World Cup. I have trained very hard for it and I hope to get it on Sunday.”
