It seems like only yesterday when the media began to spread the news about a virus that still threatens us today.

That outbreak so far from home didn’t take long to knock on our doors, forcing us to remain in quarantine for months and then to only go out as necessary always with a mask on.

From that moment, Torrevieja.com got to work to keep the residents and non-residents of Torrevieja informed about the situation in our little corner of the world.

Among other initiatives, we made several videos through the streets of Torrevieja.

It was very sad to see the empty streets in the middle of March when the cool of winter was giving way to a pleasant spring.

The sound of the waves echoed along the shore… But sadly there was no one on the beaches to hear it.

Things looked really bad. We have never experienced anything like this in living memory.

The financing by Google that nobody expected

Thanks to our work and our 24 years of experience, in the middle of May we received hopeful news:

The company Google, the “king of the internet,” had decided to reward our efforts by awarding us a grant.

That helped us to continue working on information about the coronavirus in the midst of the terrible crisis produced by the COVID19 pandemic.

Thanks to that and to your support, today we have two live webcams active 24 hours a day so that you can see our famous Playa del Cura from anywhere in the world.

We also promptly inform you, through our weekly mailing, on the precautionary measures that must be taken to access the beaches.

With our collaborator Jeanette Erath we visited La Zenia Beach and the Villa Martín Plaza, where luckily you can still find many people enjoying their towns, with the necessary security measures.

And although the cultural leisure and gastronomy activities have been greatly affected, we continue to inform you about everything you can do and enjoy in Torrevieja.

We hope that soon this difficult situation will be purely a memory and we can meet again in Torrevieja without restrictions, and, like the swallows, we can return every year.
