Why do you think Torresat is better than TelMicro?

I suggest you to wait several weeks, before invest more money to another TV system. Don't forget that ALL english TV systems are illegal on spanish territory. I'm very upset with my TV system go down, but still i knew what i was paying for.

I think the ones provided by Telefonica are quite legal, and there may be others who provide legal English tv-services in Spain.

BBC1, BBC2 etc are not broadcast outside the UK. Instead the BBC provide the services through BBC Prime, BBC Food, BBC World News, to avoid conflicts when purchasing (and selling) rights to copyrighted material.

I also refer to my general warning on watching TV (ie. Football) for free using the Internet on another tread here.

It would appear that the Guardia arrested the Owner/MD of TelMicro for fraud and are not interested about the Transmitting of BBC SKY or any other. So I would guess that if TORRESAT's accounts are legitamate, there maybe no problem. However, if thre is one bad apple in the TV barrel then the other maybe exposed to investigation. So you suck it and see??

          Telmicro

We lost our channels 2 days ago. I read on another forum which I cannot find again, that Telemicro were closed by the Guardia Civil, closely followed by Telesatelit. Someone had apparently gone down to Telmicros offices in San Luis to find them shut and a Guardia notice of closure plastered to the front door.

We have long known that re braodcasting was illegal and would be 'cracked down on', however, this now seems to have come to pass. I dare say other companies will soon follow in the 'cull' that now appears to be happening.

Like many others, I tried at first to call the numbers I had for Telmicro, to no avail and then I found this forum in a bid to access whatever I could on the internet. I wish I could recall its name!

I have great sympathy for all of those people who have paid a huge amount of money up front and very recently for their service. The likely hood of them getting this back is very low. My own was due in October and luckily, I had not been contacted yet to pay my yearly subscription. It was ironic that we had actually deliberated upon getting a spanish style 'free to air box'...now I suppose this is a must!

If anyone hears anything else, please advise. My mum's system, different from ours is still working....but for how long?

Pardon my ignorance, but if I get a Spanish Free-To-Air box (given that I have lost Telmicro and don't feel like changing to another supplier until things settle down), I presume the mesh aerial will be inadequate for a signal to the Spanish FTA box? Do you have to have a special type of aerial to go with the box?

            Thanks for any advice

I saw that, but since I did not have time to translate it myself, it thought it was best to NOT start editing, and just keep the machine translation. At least no one can blame me for it now.

Digital television signal Pirates Network dismantled

The Civil Guard has dismantled a network based in the Vega Baja, accused of pirating digital television signals to resell at low prices to a wide customer base that stretched from Benidorm to Almeria.

Yesterday the Guardía detained 17 people who are reputed to be mostly British, but sources close to the raid indicated that the figure could increase as the investigation open.

During police searches to at least eleven homes, agents confiscated items valued at over one million euros and 500,000 euros in cash.

Investigations were launched four months ago by agents of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil of Torrevieja, Alicante, Novelda and Pilar de la Horadada.

According to the same sources, those arrested in Torrevieja and other localities of Vega Baja had created their own platform for distributing TV and radio signals between the entire British population. Under a semblance of legality, offering a service to their customers for around 20 euros a month.

The business was widespread throughout the province and the Andalusian coast so the number of affected is very high, indicated sources. The alleged fraudsters had great telecommunications knowledge of and were able to encode and decode signals from the satellite to market their service, to create their own digital platform.

The extensive network infrastructure offered a semblance of legality with which managed to capture their customers and gain significant economic benefits.

The complicated investigations have dragged on for months.

Yes that seems very serious. I think its a shame that they dont allow Cocaine and bankrobbery aswell. just so the colombian cartels and the russian mafia can stay and be happy here.
I agree, legalise Cocaine then who needs TV - we can all have a proper chin wag

                          Re: Post by grange

It's quite clear what's been going on and the outcome was predictable.
It's a pity some have lost money here - had we known four months ago, but as this appears to have been a covert operation, that was not possible.

                          Two questions:
                          1. TV Piracy is mentioned (i.e. Sky), so we can safely assume that Superbeam are going to be hit at some stage. Correct?
                          2. Who owns the receiver supplied by Telemicro? Are we obliged to hand it back to someone? If not, is it any use to us?

Seems like a Chinese whisper. The nearest truth is the Guardia could not care less about TV English transmissions, they were orderd by the court for fraud and massive unpaid taxes. Torresat are showing all channels including SKY
