        Telmicro Transmission Suspension

        Dear Forum,
I posted an entry yesterday and wish to enhance the suggestion. I may be crazy, and experts out there in this field of TV transmission may shoot down my ideas but this is a suggestion to ensure us english TV watchers dont end up doing all those horrible jobs you put off for ages coz there aint no TV.
We could build from base, ie software, antenna etc etc and build the infrastructure for an english based TV cable/satellite system. I have no idea of the costs, anyone got ideas. However, the infrastructure is still at the Telmicro site and I read 60,000 people subscribe to Telmicro. I suggest a "public ownership scheme". We look at what it would cost to take over Telmicro's infrastructure as number one. We look at what each of us would have to pay individually to ALL own the supplier. This would include a profits scheme rewarding all who could pay in. We could maintain the infrastruture, but , through our presidents, negotiate with people like SKY to have legal transmissions, a system with integrity. Guarantees of correct menu wording ie, the channel transmitted is the one on the menu scheme with now and next programme capability. We could also accomodate a new channel if demand id great and legally add this to the package line-up. If we can't "grab" the Telmicro infrastructure would if be mad to build our own. People moving to Spain from the UK could contribute always ensuring the maintenance of the system. We would never have to worry, your money would not be wasted , you would make money, you would have an english disciplined customer service where the "customer is always right " and we would share the most important profit of all " uninterrupted transmission". I have not analysed the details, however, I offer this out. To Declare, I am a software expert not looking for greedy profit, but the expertise to make this happen. All expense, cost etc would be for the public consumption to those who invested. I look forward to the response. Maybe I am crazy !. Could it work ?

It would work providing we find out the real facts regarding the closure of telmicro, i.e. that it was shut down for fraud and not for illegally retransmitting sky or other chanels.

If it was just for fraud, and the Spanish authorities are not going to do the same to all the other English TV companies then your idea would stand a chance. If however, all the other TV providers are also being investigated, then no chance.

Yes of course it could if the authorities would allow the purchase of Telmicro company and infrastructure, like in the UK when a Adminstrator is put in But we are in Spain. Maybe one of the media companies would take on the venture with the public support. What has happened to the individual in Telmicro is what happened to the individuals in the property industry.

A sensible entrepeneur is whats needed

              Telmicro

I have over the past few days followed the dialogue with regard to Telmicro. It seems to me that the Expat's population are split between those who miss the U.K. broadcasts and those that pore scorn on their existence. I really take issue with those who broadcast the use of conversation and board games as a substitute. We retired early, and really enjoy each others company, at the beach, pub and restaurant, and we read several books a week. However, there are times when the old goggle box provides the ultimate entertainment. My husband is an avid Formula 1 follower and the next venue is Valencia (our backyard) well almost. U.K. football is followed with supporting teams as diverse as Man Utd, Swindon, Luton and both Glasgow teams. We both have our own computers and therefore have access to the world of news etc. But when it comes to shutters down in any season, it was always reassuring to watch what was both familiar and loved. Nothing to do with being boring or fixed in our ways. "one will always miss what is not theirs"

Spot on - I guess we will have to wait and see for the facts, however, I wonder if we will get the "real" facts.
Through the Spanish legal system, if enough money is raised ?, we could ensure the collection of signals is legal.
Where fraud may be concerned, it would not be an issue as all company accounts should be publicly declarable. ( although no guarantee I understand ) from unscrupulous employees.
I have no idea of the monies involved from this however, if 60,000 subscribe at 200 euro a shot, thats 1.2 million.
I did say I could be crazy, however, I think it can be done and equally I think it could be the strongest TV transmission company on the costa blanca.
Much more research of course, but I think we could do better than Telemicro and offer many more options.
What do you think. The alternative is Telmicro package offering slimmed down or dish technology.?

Here is the entrepeneur, who can afford to invest ?. Complete hands-on with technology hands-off with finance ?. I need a qualified boardroom of professionals to make this work ?

Go for it C4S. The idea is sound and with good research and a honest Spanish lawyer it could be progressed. Finding who the adminstrarer is and putting a proposal forward to take over the operation, may be difficult but not impossible then set up a team to investigate legal trnasmssion and negoiators with SKY etc. Marketing and advertising is a big area still and I am sure a broadcaster would welcome a wider audience, if they themselves can benefit by offering their sponsors a bigger market segment. Over heard in a restaurant tonight. Let's beware that it has been a topic of conversation for sometime. ""Torresat" have been taken over by the Spanish Government." And although they are no longer able to broadcast Sky, they can deliver a non Sky package. Again I reiterate this was "restaurant plus vino recourse"

Perhaps watching TV is sad, but not for me !, however, we are all different and I respect that point of view. Should "you" have a "cause" and I believe it to be worthy, ie breast cancer and other charities I would walk a million miles to ensure research and treatment is administered. Full Stop.
I am not a sad TV watcher, but it is one of my interests, I would not disrespect anyone who has alternative interests.

                              • Hi All
On the subject of English TV. If you what to watch it for free, as in N.C.I.S. C.I.S. Eastenders etc, then why not point your dish to Nilesat and Hotbird, don't know the location, but i'm sure you can find it by googling. then you will recieve as i did when i was in Egypt, over 1000 programmes, not all in English i might say and plenty of xxx channels but you will get programmes like MBC2, MBC4, One Tv, Dubia Tv, all of which are in English. Plus you will get BBC Prime which shows Eastenders, Its scrambled, but if you type in 6969, then 6969 the channel unlocks

                                Hope this Helps Pleeky
