Well It just proves how bright the Spanish Authorities really are doesn't it.

Lets face it, it now costs a fortune to live here because of the spiralling inflation, fuel costs, food costs, telephone, electricity etc. etc. People are leaving in their droves because they can no longer afford to live here, especially those relying on an income from the UK, and the pathetic exchange rate. There is a glut of houses with no one wanting to buy them. And to top it off no one wants to come here on holiday (tourists must be down 50% on the same period last year).

So what do the Spanish do ??? They cut off the TV to p*ss us off even more. Do they actually want every last one of us to leave so they can go back to growing oranges and riding round on donkeys.

I really despair of this country at times, and the people that run it. Thick as pigsh*t ?? naw even pigsh*t aint that thick !!!.

For a start it does not cost a fortune to live here, its at least half the cost of living in the UK.
People leaving here are probably p----d off with having to associate with brits like you, notice the lower case b in your case,
The only Brits that will leave because they havent got "Corry" will be prats like you. I myself would prefer a Spain with oranges, lemons and donkeys, theypeople who run it obviously arent as thick you though because even though you hate it so much here, you are still here whinging. .....give us all a break and go back to the UK.

          Telemicro

Information taken from a Spanish forum

"It has nothing to do with showing Sky the authorities to be honest are not interested, it's a large fraud totalling many millions and would suggest you find an alternative which I have to, The BBC and other companies that were shown on Telemicro are ligitimate and if it was to do with Sky then it would only affect them, the BBC is a free broadcast outside the united kingdom where no licence fee is nessesary, the TV licence fee in the UK is payable for broadcasting all channels as the TV's have a receiver.

Apparently Telemicro have been running two accounts books and they have been under investigation for several months by the guardia Civil and it's unlikly that they will come back on line, also under investigation is Sunshine TV who have also been stopped from broadcasting

Yesterday (12/ morning at approx 9.20am 2 guardia civil jeeps with 10 officers turned up at the Telmicro offices on the Urb. San Luis. Together with the officers came a group of men in suites.

After gaining entry to the offices, whatever staff where in there were kept inside, presumably for questioning. The officers were there all day and left late last night having "taped" up the doors with a sign saying (in Spanish) "Closed by order of the Guardia civil and court number 1 Torrevieja, 12th August 2008".

            Johnnie1uk.

            Sorry, I didn't mean you!

Others think they have a right to moan about Telemicro. (Please read back)

I was saying, 'Why moan on this forum? If you have a complaint about Telemicro go to them.
You might even get your money back. You certainly won't get anything by complaining about Telemicro here.

Personally I love Spain & the Spanish and my life does not revolve around English TV.
We have a Spanish digi-box, but only because we get more programmes that way, and even films in English. And after a one off payment, it costs us nothing.

This forum is for topics regarding Torrevieja and surrounding areas, I believe this is happening in Torrevieja. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Plus if you have read the other pages you will see you get no response if you call TelemicRo. Not as clever as you think are you?

So you have your opinion which obviously differs to mine - thats fine because I respect the fact that others might not share my opinion, and have a view of their own. You, on the other hand, obviously get very irate when someone doesn't share your viewpoint, as is quite evident in your post.

Did I insult any other posters when I offered my point of view ??? NO, I just posted what I thought and allowed others to either accept it or reject it. Whereas you (and one or two other posters in this thread) seem to be unable to allow anyone else to have an opinion that differs to yours/theirs, and the only way you seem capable of dealing with a differing viewpoint is to insult the perpetrator.

So really I should feel very sorry for you as you are obviously incapable of partaking in a debate without resorting to childish insults when someone disagrees with your rose tinted retoric. But as I am not that way inclined, I will not feel sorry for you, but will allow you to continue in your childish ways in the hope that one day you will realise that your playground antics will only ever serve to display your true colours.

Oh and by the way, with regard to your very first paragraph, I have Spanish friends who have successful careers, and even they are saying that they are finding it very difficult to continue to afford to live here. But that's another debate .

                    Telmicro

OK...so I'm new to Spain and Telmicro was recommended and I handed over 600 euros only last week. Do I assume that I've now lost all my money? I saw some threads from earlier in the year where Telmicro wnet off but then came back on, but this time looks more serious. Any suggestion, or do I just put this down to experience?

If you wrote a cheque you could try and contact the bank and see if it can be stopped and you could have some fallback if it was Visa, but if it was cash I don't think we will stand a chance, I think it's a matter of wait and see but looks like they've been caught up with and unfortunately you are not alone. A friend also popped into Torresatellite up at Cabo Roig as they have been having problems with their TV breaking up a lot and when they enquired as to what was happening with Telemicro they told her it was to do with the Russian Mafia and money laundering, believe that if you want, but that's what they said.

I don't care what comes out as long as it will keep my Spanish speaking kids amused...!! We have a communal aerial and the Spanish neighbours all have TV, so we should also be able to get hold of it surely...?

Have you tried tuning your TV in to accept the Spanish channels? In the menu you should have an auto install.

The newspapers this week will feature the end days of Telemicro Levante, raided by the Guardia Civil on 12th August for illegal broadcasting and re transmissions and tax offences. The company will be no more.

Tele East has gone and the buzz around the papers is that many more English language TV providers will go the same way.

I contacted Sky direct and the reply I received can be summarised as follows:

No one is allowed to retransmit or transmit Sky channels in Spain no matter what they offer.

To use Sky cards to receive in Spain is unlawful by either companies or individuals and if Sky find out it will cancel the contract and supply.

The BBC channels are free to view BUT if re transmitted by Sky, they cannot be lawfully watched in Spain.

This applies to Sky via digital aerial, satellite or cable. All will go in due course.

Their advice, learn Spanish and watch Spanish TV. It was our choice to live here.

Telemicro have been dodgy for months now and were allowing installation even on the day they were raided.

My advice, read a book for a while or watch videos. Don't throw good money after bad. This may take months to sort out and remember what Sky told me, local offers are not worth the paper they are written on.

Where did you get that info from? or did you just invent it? the tourism in Spain has incresed year on year since god knows when.
In Alicante the increase has been with 2.7% same period as last year.
