That is the case in England with receiving stolen goods but I believe with the TV situation here it's only illegal to rebroadcast not receive the signal. So WE are OK.

you need at least a 1.9 m dish to receive a decent amount of programmes. that includes bbc & itv. the dish alone is over 450 euro!!!

Rewiring

Sorry ebt but I am blonde!! I have tried both the wires that are coming out of the wall and there is nothing happening.... I don't care what comes out as long as it will keep my Spanish speaking kids amused...!! We have a communal aerial and the Spanish neighbours all have TV, so we should also be able to get hold of it surely...?

Sorry Loopylou, been away. It's not just a case of changing over what's coming out of your wall. Most houses have a TV distribution panel (normally in a cupboard) and this is where Telmicro will have disonnected your communal feed. Try and find this box/panel (normally with a screwed cover). If you can find it, come back to me and we'll take it from there. I've just (also) tuned in my DVB (Freeview) receiver, built into my tv and have now got about 20 Spanish TV channels and loads of radio stations too. External DVB boxes are very cheap. Disney and one of the sports channels are broadcasting in English as a secondary audiofeed, so I am quite pleased.

The Civil Guard has dismantled a network based in the Vega Baja,
accused of pirating digital television signals to resell at low prices
to a wide customer base that stretched from Benidorm to Almeria.
Yesterday the Guardía detained 17 people who are reputed to be mostly
British, but sources close to the raid indicated that the figure could
increase as the investigation open.
During police searches to at least eleven homes, agents confiscated
items valued at over one million euros and 500,000 euros in cash.
Investigations were launched four months ago by agents of the Judicial
Police of the Guardia Civil of Torrevieja, Alicante, Novelda and Pilar
de la Horadada.
According to the same sources, those arrested in Torrevieja and other
localities of Vega Baja had created their own platform for
distributing TV and radio signals between the entire British
population. Under a semblance of legality, offering a service to their
customers for around 20 euros a month.
The business was widespread throughout the province and the Andalusian
coast so the number of affected is very high, indicated sources. The
alleged fraudsters had great telecommunications knowledge of and were
able to encode and decode signals from the satellite to market their
service, to create their own digital platform.
The extensive network infrastructure offered a semblance of legality
with which managed to capture their customers and gain significant
economic benefits.
The complicated investigations have dragged on for months.

Signal feed

Pardon my ignorance, but if I get a Spanish Free-To-Air box (given that I have lost Telmicro and don't feel like changing to another supplier until things settle down), I presume the mesh aerial will be inadequate for a signal to the Spanish FTA box? Do you have to have a special type of aerial to go with the box?

Your mesh dish will not provide the input signal you need. You need to plug in your communal aerial feed into your Spanish freeview box. I have done this this morning and have abouu 25 TV and 20 radio channels. A couple (TV) are broadcasting English as a secondary stream, so I'm listening to English !!

Did the presenter offer any guarantee, or are we just risking that more people loose money by not making claims against Telemicro before it goes into receivership and perhaps failing a deadline for filing such?

Does the presenter have any qualification to offer a legal opinion, or was it just her opion, or worse, was it just someone (unspecified) who had told her?

Have the person broadcast this information on air (I like the channel, so I'll tune in to listen).

Some people (including installers) may have lost serious money here, perhaps we should have the name of the presenter so we can keep that person to account if the information proves to be wrong? Misleading with intent would re a crime in itself.

Grapevine news is that they have the equipment back but apparently it was ripped out and they need to put it all back and sort the wiring, so sounds good at the moment. That was from an installer that did work for Telmicro and was fitting a satellite dish for a local bar today, he is working for someone else now as he said he has a mortgage to pay and needs the money.
