Concert based on romantic works
Works by Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz and Joaquín Rodrigo
Santiago Sánchez (Tenor) and Victoria Guerrero (piano), will offer a concert based on works of romanticism next Saturday, July 30 at 8pm at the Municipal Theatre, Torrevieja.
The concert will begin with songs by Richard Strauss, one of the most representative composers of German romanticism; followed by a “cycle” created with songs by different Ibero-American composers that, in addition to being very beautiful musically, contain a common thread that tells a small story.
The musical pieces are arranged so that the public can imagine the development of a scene in the first person, as if it were an opera.
This concert format is very popular in Germany, the so-called “Cycles of Songs” or Liederkreise, but in Spanish music it is still uncharted territory.
The pianist Victoria Guerrero is from Jerez and she has a great professional career, having played in such emblematic places as the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
When Santiago and Victoria started working together they discovered that they have the same feeling for music and they connected right away.
Regardless of the genre they play, both are clear that they like to share their emotions on stage and create something special. Something that, with this intimate and romantic programme, they hope will happen in Torrevieja.
