Discover the “Lo Albentosa” pine forest in La Mata: a natural corner to enjoy the outdoors

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax in the middle of nature, have a family picnic or simply walk surrounded by pine trees, we invite you to visit the “Lo Albentosa” pine forest, a green space located in front of the cemetery of La Mata, within the Natural Park of the Lagoons of La Mata and Torrevieja.

This beautiful natural enclave was created in 1993 thanks to the Rotary Club of Torrevieja, which planted about 5,000 pine trees. Over the years, local associations, schools and other entities have contributed to enriching this green lung with more than 10,000 native trees, making it a real oasis to disconnect.

The area is perfectly equipped to spend a full day outdoors: you will find 30 tables with benches distributed among the pine trees, a children’s play area with sand, a bio-healthy exercise area for adults, toilets and a drinking water fountain.

Whether you are a resident or on holiday in Torrevieja or La Mata, this is an ideal place to breathe fresh air and enjoy contact with nature. Much frequented by families and visitors, it is especially popular at Easter, when many people take the opportunity to spend the day camping and sharing meals outdoors.

Since 2021, this recreational area has been named “José Eduardo Gil Rebollo” in tribute to the former councilor of the Torrevieja City Council, who died in 2020.
