    • 13 Girls - your story sounds very similar to mine! I think we even booked the same villa as ours was in Los Balcones as well, and me and 13 friends were due to go out there and then the day before we were also informed that it was double booked and we could not go.
Please let me know if you get anywhere as they also owe us nearly £2000!

      • Some good news guys, I have just been informed that John Treagust has been found and arrested. I am still awating more details, but all sounds promising. At least he won't be able to screw anyone else over. Watch this space!

        • That's fantastic news, lets hope they through away the keys

          • I have been speaking with someone today who says that John arranged to meet with someone to pay money owed. He actually was there, paid the money and then the police appeared and arrested him. So good for that person, and they got their money back. He managed to do what the police were unable to do.

            • Does this mean - now that he's arrested - that there's perhaps a glimmer of hope in getting repaid? Or is it now even more unlikely?

              • I am not sure on that. I have written mine off as a bad experience, but then mine was not as much as others.

                • I can't really write mine off as he owes us £1795 between 14 people! Hopefully he will be forced to pay back...

                  • Cant write off mine either as it is nearly GBP5000 owed for rentals in our villa last year

                    • Dear All,

There is an article in RoundTown News on the arrest of John and Amanda Treagust. It specifies that the amount defrauded by J+A is E10,000 which by the amount of people who have stated they have lost money on this site alone, it will be many multiples of this amount.
I will be in Spain next week and will be reporting my losses which are in excess of E4000 to the Guadia Civil at Pilar de la Horadada. Ben who was instumental in the arrests of J+A will be assisting at the other end of the phone.
I would suggest that if you can you should take this course of action as the Guardia are dealing with this case and compiling the evidence against J+A. My view is that even if I dont get any money back I will be assisting in J+A getting thier just deserves, which i hope is a very long prison sentence

                      • Here is the article from The RTN. Happy reading!
John Treagust has been arrested and is currently in custody

                        Villa Villains Arrested

FOLLOWING RTN’S exclusive story five weeks ago which told how dozens of innocent holiday makers had been left stranded by a couple raking in deposits from renters before scarpering with their money, RTN is pleased to report that the pair have been arrested by the Guardia Civil.

                        CUSTODY

John and Amanda Treagust of crooked holiday rental website Costa Blanca Live were arrested by officers on Monday morning at their current home in the mountains near to Mojacar in Almeria. The couple was taken in for questioning and Amanda was later released on bail, returning to the family home to look after their children. Her husband allegedly admitted to fraudulently obtaining money from holiday makers and home owners and was remanded in custody pending further inquiries by the investigating judge.

It is believed that the couple has profited more than €10,000 from unsuspecting French, British and Dutch holidaymakers as well as denying villa owners their rightful rental income.

                        PRISON CELL

Ben Ayad of Eskoriatza in the Basque Country owns a house in Lomas de Don Juan in Orihuela Costa and was a victim of John and Amanda Treagust. He was instrumental in the arrests of the pair after painstakingly tracking them down through internet forums and asking friends and business associates in the Mojacar area to help him locate the couple. He told RTN: “I am delighted that John Treagust is now looking at the four walls of a prison cell.”

Ben personally located the couple at a small property in the mountains of Mojacar, whilst he was on his annual family holiday to the Orihuela Costa. He and a friend travelled to Almeria and confronted the pair who then promised him that they would pay him the money that they owed him within two weeks. Ben commented: “They underestimated me and as soon as I had confirmed with my own eyes that they lived at that address, I informed the Guardia Civil. They did pay me some of my money back, but not all of it. But the other victims will not be so lucky.”

                        LEGAL

There could be more victims of John and Amanda Treagust out there who are unaware of the legal process currently underway and Ben implores anyone who has had dealings with the couple to get in touch with the National Police in Orihuela, so that officers can add any further allegations to the case.

                        • Fantastic news - let's hope the pair of them get what they deserve.

Anyway - does anyone know how I can contact Guardia Civil at Pilar de la Horadada to inform them that I am also a 'victim' of their scam? I have no plans on returning to the area in person.

Thank you if anyone can help!

I have today made a denunciation against John and Amanda Treagust to the Guadia Civil at Pilar de la Horadada.
There have been previous submissions at this location including Ben who was instrumental in the arrest of J + A.
