History of Pascual Flores

The original ship “Pascual Flores” was built in Torrevieja in 1917 to be dedicated to the export of fruits, salt and general cargo, serving several Mediterranean ports and the coast of Africa.

In 1999 the Torrevieja City Council bought for €180,000 the Pascual Flores that was in the port of Milford in a very poor state of conservation.

For 8 years, large economic investments were made in the maintenance of the boat, which generated harsh criticism from the citizens of Torrevieja, as such a large investment was not considered justified with public money from taxpayers (more than 4 million euros).

Due to the poor condition of the boat, it is impossible to maintain it and in 2020, the original sailboat is scrapped and the Torrevieja City Council signs a collaboration agreement with the Nao Victoria Foundation, for the construction of an identical replica of the schooner.

The Nao Victoria Foundation, specialized in the management of history boats, is now in charge of the operation and maintenance of the Pascual Flores as a floating and promotional museum of the city of Torrevieja.

Thus begins a new journey that will lead Pascual Flores to participate in various international maritime festivals, film recording and will return home every year to spend Christmas in the city where he was born, Torrevieja.
