Chirigotas are songs whose lyrics speak sarcastically about everyday matters.
Chirigotas are sung in Cadiz (and in many other places in Spain) at carnival time.
The Chirigotas festival will be held at the Torrevieja Municipal Theatre on August 14, at 9pm.
The chirigotas of Cádiz: “Fermín and Antoñito” and “Canijo” will be taking part.
A “Chirigota”, is also a group of friends who sing “Chirigotas”.
For example, in Torrevieja there is a “Chirigota” called “Los Sangochaos” who have organised this concert and are the hosts.
