Emotional concert of “cuarentunas” in Torrevieja. Endearing melodies and an atmosphere of camaraderie that will transport attendees to a time of youth and joy.
The cuarentunas are musical groups that are made up of former members of university musical groups who continue to hold meetings.
But what on earth is a cuarentuna? The cuarentunas are bands of veteran musicians who used to be part of university musical groups in their younger years, and although the name suggests that it’s been 40 years since their graduation, that’s not always the case. These musicians never get tired of the good life and doing what they love the most: playing traditional music and spreading their joyful spirit to everyone.
This concert is part of the “I MEETING OF CUARENTUNAS CITY OF SALT” and is organised by the Women’s Cuarentuna Association of Alicante. It will be an event in which eight cuarentunas from different parts of Spain will come together to share their music and their passion for traditions:
- Cuarentuna Barcelona
- Cuarentuna de Cartagena
- Cuarentuna de Córdoba
- Cuarentuna de Córdoba (yes, there are two from Córdoba)
- Cuatrentuna Law School of Valencia
- Cuarentuna Universitaria de Valencia
- Ancient Group of the University of Oviedo
- Cuarentuna Femenina de Alicante (our hostesses, what a party they are going to throw!)
