Lenten Menu Season 2026 in Torrevieja: dates and participating restaurants
III Season of Lenten Menus 2026 in Torrevieja
The Association of Hospitality Companies of Torrevieja and Region organizes the III Season of Lenten Menus 2026, an essential gastronomic event that will be held on Fridays February 20 and 27 and March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2026.
During these six days, eight associated restaurants will offer special menus inspired by the Lenten tradition, betting on local produce and recipes adapted to current tastes.
What are Lenten Menus and why are they celebrated?
In Spain, tradition dictates that during Lent meat is not consumed on Fridays. This 40-day period leading up to Holy Week commemorates, according to Christian tradition, the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert.
Abstinence from meat symbolizes recollection and renunciation, so fish and stews take on a special role at this time of year. Although today this practice is mandatory only for practicing Catholics under certain conditions, culturally it is still deeply rooted in many regions, especially during Holy Week.
