The traffic light is located on Avenida de La Libertad, in front of the Torrevieja Casino.
This system aims to help pedestrians who step into the road when they are walking and distracted whilst using their Smartphone
The image of a pedestrian on the road turns red when the traffic light for cars is green and green when cars stop for a red light.
“This is a lighting device so that pedestrians who are going to cross the crossing and who are looking down at the ground, usually on their Smartphone, can notice the colour of the traffic light”
Torrevieja is the first town in Europe to install an “intelligent traffic light” to help those who cross the street looking down at their mobile phone.
This device is going to be presented as a new, exciting feature at the Amsterdam Mobility and Road Safety Fair: INTERTRAFFIC.
