NEW MOBILE RADAR TO CONTROL EXCESS SPEED IN THE MAIN AVENUES OF TORREVIEJA
The mobile radar that the Torrevieja Local Police has acquired will go into operation today, Monday, September 14, 2020 to control the main avenues of Torrevieja.
In the first week, controls will be carried out on the following avenues: Desiderio Rodríguez, Gregorio Marañón, Cortes Valencianas, La Mancha, Baleares and Torrealmendros.
The intention of the Torrevieja City Council with the implementation of this device is to educate drivers, of both vehicles and motorcycles, so that they respect the speed limit, especially in the large avenues of the town, where there are numerous complaints by neighbours due to noise and speeding.
This radar, which cost almost 18,000 euros, is light equipment designed to measure the speed of movement of vehicles and document those that exceed the predefined speed limit with photographs.
As this is about education, will this mean that offenders will be informed and educated or is this going to be simply a fining system
and what exactly is the speed limit? Is it 40kph?
