Organized by the Torrevieja Athletics Club, with the local runner Luis Manuel Corchete at the head of this sports project.
This race returns to the traditional date that has always been held: the last Sunday of February.
Torrevieja wants to recover the runners who year after year have dropped out of this sporting event.
Jose Manuel Pizana, as president of the Torrevieja athletics club, has indicated that the organization of this event is a great challenge for them.
It has been possible to include this sporting event within the calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
The Torrevieja half marathon, all 21 kilometres, is run through the town and along the coast.
In 2024 around 1500 runners took part in the half marathon and 5km races.
The 5km race covers almost the same route as the half marathon.
This year the men’s half marathon winner finished in 1hr 5 mins and the fastest female finished in 1 hour 20 minutes.
This event gets bigger every year and is putting Torrevieja firmly on the map.
FAQ:
For the 5K race, participants will have a maximum time of 45 minutes to finish it, while those competing in the Half Marathon must do so in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
The minimum age to participate in the 5K race is 14 years old, while for the Half Marathon it is 18 years old, up to over 75 years old in both.
Registration is open on the event’s website and can be registered online until February 22.
Face-to-face registration will be on Saturday, February 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the CIAJ Torrevieja- Youth Information and Animation Center (Paseo Juan Aparicio, 5)
IMPORTANT: On Sunday, February 25th, there will be no registration.
All participants will have a runner’s bag consisting of: exclusive commemorative technical t-shirt of the race of the Spanish brand JOMA, water bottle, commemorative gymsack, isotonic drinks and various sports supplementation products. All runners who reach the finish line will receive their commemorative medal that can be engraved, free of charge, with their name and time.
