A Meal in Sunset Beach

Share on:

We have now lived in Torrevieja for about 18 months. Torrevieja is, at this time for us, perfect. It can be terribly distracting here to get work done.

Our days start with warm beverages and Desayuno. Then, it is a long dog walk on the beach, at least an hour. Next thing you know it is lunch time.

I have heard there are over 700 restaurants here. We will usually either find ourselves having a long Menu Del Dia or just a few free tapas to accompany our drinks.

Most restaurants here are casual local eateries. Some relaxing, almost all have outside seating, and others loud, busy local standing room only Cervecerias.

We have found a few favorites and when we have a special occasion to celebrate a night out there are about six ‘fine dining’ options that we really enjoy. One is Sunset Beach.

We have been here twice and on both occasions the experience was exemplary. The service is 100%. The sommelier recommended the perfect wines. The food was gorgeous and delicious.

The following experience is from our second visit.

The meal began here. This was not listed on the menu so it was a nice surprise. Tomato bisque and on the left was a mixture of sweet and savory flavors.

This was Terri-Lynn’s first dish. Simple prawns in cream but she loved it, it was very good.

I am really disappointed I did not take better notes of this dish. It was craziness on a plate. One of the most fun dishes I have had. There is a fried Boquerones on the left. A pate, likely Foi gras and 2 other proteins with three sauces. Absolutely amazing!

Then came the Amuse-bouche

My next dish – Scallops, cauliflower, pork belly, beet root pure, yoghurt

And Terri-Lynns next dish. A TarTare. Again I wish I had taken better notes.

Terri-Lynn’s main course was a filet of beef, perfectly cooked medium rare with three different sauces.

My main course – Filet of lamb, perfectly rare, couscous, sweet potato, pomegranate sauce.

This was Terri-Lynn’s dessert. Mousse of vanilla, red fruit, chocolate, ice cream of peaches.

For my dessert I had the Irish coffee because well, I prefer my desserts to come in a glass.

And that was it. Another spectacular evening at Sunset Beach. This menu was only $35 Euro per person. It is an amazing value. With wine our bill came out to just over $100 Euro. It is one of our favorite restaurants here for a special night out.
