Caroline is one of those rare people who uses her force for good! Caroline takes advantage of her hobby to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
Caroline Steenstra is an extraordinary person, she´s not your average runner here in Spain, rather she does something really important with her chosen pastime
This year she´s running for a very special person in the local community of San Luis, Torrevieja: 5-year-old Daniella. Daniella has a life limiting illness called Mitochondrial Disease, this means that sadly the little girl is very poorly, she´s like a newborn baby and totally dependent on others, needing a tube to eat a special diet.
It´s not know how long Daniella has left and Caroline would love to give mum Nikki, who herself helps tirelessly for a local food bank, and the rest of the family some precious memories to cherish with their little one.
What is Mitochondrial disease? Mitochondrial diseases result from failures of the mitochondria, which are specialised compartments present in every cell of the body (except red blood cells). Mitochondria are responsible for creating more than 90% of the energy needed by the body to sustain life and support organ function.
So, if you are able to spare a few euros to help this very deserving family enjoy some invaluable moments with little Daniella and just take some pressure off at this difficult time, please click on the page below and donate whatever you can.
