Torrevieja Animal Volunteers Association (AVAT)

The Torrevieja Animal Volunteers Association (AVAT) is made up of a total of twelve people of six different nationalities, all of them volunteers at the Torrevieja Municipal Shelter.

This association lends its help to the operation of the animal centre in this town in aspects in which the city council feels that iss performance is limited, either due to lack of staff or long administrative procedures.

They also provide support in cases outside the shelter itself.

Another of the tasks of this association is the management of adoptions, for example, sharing the cases of animals through social networks, making an exhaustive check of possible adopters, always ensuring animal welfare in order to guarantee a safe and secure home.

With the help of all the volunteers who come day after day to take care of cats and dogs (and sometimes also swifts, turtles, ferrets, rabbits or seagulls etc.), they try to ensure that the animals stay is as short and comfortable as possible.
