Leisure area in the port of Torrevieja
The new leisure centre will include 650 underground parking spaces inside the port of Torrevieja.
This project involves an investment of 19 million euros and will be carried out thanks to the private initiative of the Empresas del Sol group, which has been awarded the contract and will operate this infrastructure for the next 50 years.
Movie theatres, an American bowling alley and 27 premises for commercial use and restaurants will be included.
Among the companies interested in investing in this project, are several local hospitality entrepreneurs and we could also see restaurant franchises such as Lizarran, KFC, VIPS and La Tagliatella.
The Levante dam will be remodelled and will be connected to the shopping centre via a long, large footbridge.
The Paseo de los hippies (paseo de la libertad) will become a large pedestrian area and the children’s fair will maintain its current location, separating the pedestrian walk from the commercial and leisure buildings.
The first phase of these works has already begun with the construction of the new fish market (easily visible if you go for a walk along the Levante dam) and the completion of this large shopping center in Torrevieja is scheduled for 2023.
Significant changes:
- The excursion boat to Tabarca, remains in the same location.
- The floating museums will be located on the wide pier in front of the commercial area.
- The fish market will change location and will be located between the Marina Salinas and the commercial area.
- The Levante dam will be remodelled and will have a large access walkway to the leisure area.
- Access by car to the underground car park will be through a large road beginning at a roundabout in front of Plaza Waldo Calero (Plaza de la Fuente). This road divides the fairground area on one side and the shopping and restaurant area on the other.
